Your location. Your comfort.

A clear look at why location matters for local discovery, what people see on your profile, and where to review your privacy choices.

Location can help Hive make discovery feel more relevant to your area. That does not mean you should share more than you are comfortable with. Keep your profile details intentional, review your app permissions, and use the privacy information available in your account and on Hive’s website.

01 · Local discovery

Why Hive asks about location.

Location context can help connect your profile with people in a relevant area. Hive’s profile and discovery experience is designed around broader context—such as a city or parish—rather than displaying exact live-location text on your public profile.

What you see can depend on the information in your profile, your preferences, app permissions, and the version of the app. If something on screen seems more specific than you expected, pause before continuing and contact support for help reviewing it.

02 · What others see

Choose what you share on your profile.

People may see the profile details you choose to add—such as photos, a bio, interests, and a general location summary. Do not put your home or work address, daily routine, or other precise identifying information in your bio or photos.

Profile visibility is different from the device permission that allows an app to use location. Check both: look over your profile as another member would, and review Hive’s location access in your phone’s system settings.

03 · Your device settings

Review location access when you like.

Your phone’s operating system controls whether an app can access device location and which permission level is granted. You can review or change that access in your device settings at any time. The exact setting names and available options vary by phone and operating-system version.

If you turn off location access, parts of discovery may be less tailored to your area. If you are unsure what a particular permission does, check the explanation shown by your device before changing it.

04 · Keep informed

Where to go for account-specific questions.

For details about how account information is handled, read Hive’s Privacy Policy. For a question about what appears on your particular profile, email Hive support from the address associated with your account. Never send a password or sign-in code.
