Make your profile feel like you.

A few thoughtful details can make it easier to start a real conversation. Here’s how to shape your profile and what to check when Discovery feels quiet.

Your profile is a first impression, not a performance. Keep it honest, add details you are happy to share, and revisit it when your preferences change. No profile edit can guarantee a particular number of likes or matches.

01 · Start with the basics

Make it clear and current.

Complete the profile information requested in setup and keep your city or parish and dating preferences accurate. A short bio, interests, or prompts can give someone an easy place to begin a conversation. You do not need to disclose private details to make your profile feel personal.

Some identity fields may not be editable after setup. If a locked field is incorrect, contact support rather than creating a second account to work around it.

02 · Photos that feel like you

Choose a few clear, recent photos.

  • Use at least one photo where your face is easy to see.
  • Prefer good natural light and an uncluttered frame.
  • Add variety so people get a sense of your style and interests.
  • Choose images you are comfortable sharing with other Hive members.
  • Avoid photos that reveal private information such as an address, ID, or workplace badge.

Review your photo order and remove anything you no longer want on your profile using the photo controls available in the app.

03 · Preferences

Keep your preferences aligned with what you want.

Discovery considers your profile and the preferences you select along with Hive’s eligibility and safety rules. If your preferences are very specific or your area has fewer active members, you may have fewer profiles to browse at a given time.

Review the dating preferences available in your profile or settings. Update only the choices you genuinely want to change; widening a preference is optional and should never come at the expense of your comfort.

04 · A quick check

If Discovery feels quiet.

  1. Check that the profile details and preferences you can edit are current.
  2. Confirm your photos are visible and meet the guidance shown in the app.
  3. Review whether your selected preferences leave a small eligible pool in your area.
  4. Try again later; available profiles can change over time.

If you believe your profile is not displaying correctly, contact support with a brief description. For specific questions, browse the Discovery quick answers.
