Feel safer, online and off.

You get to set the pace. Here are practical ways to respond when something feels off, use Hive’s reporting tools, and make a thoughtful plan to meet.

A good connection should leave room for your comfort and boundaries. You don’t owe anyone a reply, an explanation, or an in-person meeting. If an interaction starts to feel wrong, pause and choose what feels safest for you.

01 · Your boundaries

Set the pace that feels right.

Keep early conversations in the app until you feel comfortable. Take time before sharing your phone number, home or work address, financial details, or other information that could make you easier to locate. It’s okay to say no, stop replying, or end a conversation without negotiating your decision.

Be cautious if someone pressures you to move quickly, asks for money or financial help, or tries to isolate you from people you trust. If something does not feel right, listen to that instinct and step back.

02 · Use the tools

Report a concern in the app.

If someone seems fake, threatening, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate, use the report option from their profile or your chat when it is available. Choose the reason that best describes what happened and include enough context for the team to understand your concern. Avoid adding unrelated sensitive information.

You can stop engaging while a concern is being reviewed. If a block or unmatch option is available in the same area, use it if you do not want further contact. Reporting is for community review; it is not a substitute for emergency help.

03 · Before you meet

Make a plan that keeps you in control.

  • Choose a public place and arrange your own way there and back.
  • Tell someone you trust where you’ll be and when you expect to check in.
  • Keep your phone charged and your personal belongings with you.
  • Leave if you feel uncomfortable. You can change your mind at any time.
  • Avoid sharing financial information or sending money to someone you have not met and trust.

These are general precautions, not a guarantee of safety. Use your judgment and choose the options that make sense for you and your community.

04 · Get support

When you need another person in your corner.

If you need help finding a reporting option or understanding an account issue, contact Hive support. Share only the details needed to explain what happened, and do not include passwords or sign-in codes.
